Furnwear

Last Thursday, Sheppard went to Furnware for our school trip. After our trip, we came out inspired about inventing and innovation. It also gave us a clear definition of innovation and inventing. I absolutely loved it and really want to go back there with my dad.  

The Leaning Tower Of Pasta

For inquiry, we did a challenge that you went into teams of 4-5. I went with Sophie, Brooke P and Stella. Then our task was to make the tallest free-standing tower with only pasta and little marshmallows. Hope you like it!   

Electronics

The GET READY GET THRU Website says that in our Emergency Kit we need a TORCH and spare batteries. At Electronics I am going to design and make an Emergency Light for myself.

Quad Death

Quad Death

Writing Purpose: To inform other HNI students the rules of the game and to develop our creative thinking ability.

Imagine another class here at HNI has not played this game before. Complete the rules below to clearly describe the aim of the game and exactly what the rules are.

Aim of the game: Get the least points and throw all of the balls into another area

Rules:

1. There are 4 even teams split between chairs or whatever you want
2. You have to sit on your bottom at all times and throw the netball ball (or anything else) to another side
3. If you get 3 balls on your side, you get a point  
4. The team with the least points win but The team with the most points losses
5. Use your strategy, pass the balls to your teammates or gan up on a team if they are winning

Game Adaptations

Use your creative thinking to explore possible adaptations to this game to enhance both the fun factor and the ability to win the game. I have given you one example for each category but challenge yourself with other ideas and thinking.

Attack	Defence	Game Plan/Strategy
Use balls other than netballs that aren’t as heavy so the speed of the travelling ball also speeds up the game. Use the light balls so that it can go far and when it hits your head, it’s soft	4 players from each quad are allowed to sit on the bleaches to stretch their arms and intercept flying balls. 1 person from each team can walk around to defend in their own square	People on the perimeter of the quad pass the ball to someone closer to the bleaches to allow them to throw it further into the opponent's area. Each round, each team has 1 minute to disuse their team plan

This term for tech, we were creating a USB stick and here is my presentation.

Reading

This week in reading, we were reading a story and our task is to make an advertisement for nurses at WW1. Here is mine!

Bus timetable:

Leave your home at 10:25 am and drive to Porters Bouquet hotel and wait there for 10 minutes. At 10:50 am, you will get to the Hastings War Memorial library.

When you have done your shopping, go back to the bus stop 5 minutes before the bus leaves. Here are the times you may want to choose out of (this is the times that the bus will take off so be there 5 minutes BEFORE the bus leaves):

• 12:05 pm
• 1:05 pm
• 2:05 pm
• 3:05 pm

It will take 15 minutes to get back to Havelock North Village, where you had started. Put everything in your car and drive back home!
