Speech

Technology has come a long way in this world of ours, so far that you could say that it’s running the world, manipulating and brainwashing us. Whenever I think of technology, theres phones and computers and I straight away think ‘Social Media’. I’m here today to tell you why kids and teenagers should not have access to social media.

When you post anything online, there will always be people who would post mean comments. There are also people who take it to the next level like spreading rumors about you online that aren’t true, in the name of cyberbullying. In New Zealand, three in five women in their late teens have been victims of online bullies. If they feel like there's no hope or no help, it could lead someone committing suicide. There have been many cases of children committing suicide because of cyberbullying, all enabled by social media sites.

You don’t have to look far to see things that aren’t aimed at kids in terms of inappropriate content. This means that it would have an impact on kids as it takes away their innocence and changes the way they see things. 22% of teenager girls say they post nude or semi-nude photos or videos of themselves online for everyone to examine it.

After school, you decide to check up on your blog or instagram and then when you least expect it, a screen pops up and says that someone else is on it … you are probably being hacked. Hackers have access to everything from your history to drafts. They can find dark secrets about you that you don’t want anyone to know to knowing where you live or where you go to school. Hackers can post anything under your name like nudes and secrets without anyone knowing it’s not you posting on social media at that time.

Social media is addictive; Spending hours browsing, sitting down for hours while the sun is calling you to come out and play. If you continually doing that, it makes you unproductive and you would always have an excuse just to stayed glued to the phone or computer. It’s more productive if you go outside and let you wild side out. Try out new things like skateboarding or tennis or learn about history in a museum.

So next time you press install to upload that new popular social media app, just think of the consequences. This is why kids and teenagers should not have social media because how it affects your physical, mental and social well-being.

Kindness quote

We had to choose a quote from a list and then give your own definition. Here is my one

puberty feelings

I was laughing a lot. I felt like this because first of all, I laugh a lot and secondly, I pretty much knew everything and it's weird for me to hear a lot about the pubic area.

What we were trying to do was that we had to choose what we felt like and why.

Maths - Percentages

Kimberly’s family went out for dinner. The cost of the meal was $140. They gave a 15% tip.
How much did they tip?

Answer:
$21.00

Working out:
15% of 140
15% of 100 = 15
15% of 40
=
10% of 40 + 5% of 40 = 6
4 + 2 = 6 15+6=21

Title: Fur from home - animal adventures

Author: Andy Blackford
Recommendation: I would recommend this book only for something quick and it’s really easy to read. This is a good book for a picture book if you don’t want to read a simple book because it has pictures in it but the right amount and I think people will enjoy this book.
Burb:
Sheep from space are trying to deliver the intergalactic post, Royston the cat dreams of visiting London, and Baxter the Bear is travelling south to find his dad. Join them on their amazing animal adventures.

Report writing: Soccer ball

Image result for fifa soccer ballSoccer Ball:

Imagine playing soccer without a ball. Imagine life without balls like soccer balls. Without Charles Goodyear, we would have no games of soccer and the world would be different. Alot.

This invention changed everything. Every ball you see today from ruby balls to hockey balls, they were all inspired by one man - Charles Goodyear.

Soccer balls have come a long way. From animal bladders or stomachs that would fall apart if you kick it too much to really good quality balls with fancy designs that would last for decades.

Who invented Soccer balls?
According to soccer ball world, it says that in 1836 Charles Goodyear designed and built the first vulcanised rubber soccer balls.

Amazing Facts about the soccer ball
  • According to historical references, the early soccer balls ranged from human heads, stitched up cloth, animal and human skulls to pig or cow bladders.
  • Until 1908, soccer balls were made from the inflated stomach tissue of executed Irish prisoners. I’m guessing that this is in Ireland.
  • Today's soccer balls are slightly oval-shaped. But the checkerboard pattern creates an illusion of a perfect sphere.

So when you kick a soccer ball again, think about how much the soccer ball has changed. Just how they used to kill a pig and then play soccer with the bladder for only 2 days because it will fall apart. Now to good quality balls. Remember how lucky you are. I bet you don’t want to kick a sharp, empty human skull.
