Top Spot competion

Every day, I always think about my special place and when I do, my mind can hear laughter, screams, excitement and nagging from little me. I can feel the cold breeze, hands on a christmas gift that I deserve, toes in cold Taupo water, sweat and ice cream leftovers tickle my face. I can see playground, real santa, soccer ball up high, steaming water, playing a game of tag and that rocket which has been stuck up in the tree. All of these memories will always follow me from the best place in Aotearoa, Kinloch.

This is my Top spot competition story i'm going to enter. It is about my favourite place in Aotearoa, Kinloch. The only rules are that it has to be 600 or under characters and it is a place in New Zealand that is special to you. Hope you enjoy!

Eye artwork

In art this week, we created an eyeball. The only colours we got to use was Primary colours (red, blue and yellow). The Len is the colours red, blue and yellow mixed to make these colours. Red, blue and yellow are Primary colours. Green, orange and violet are Secondary colours. Green-yellow, yellow-orange, red-orange, red-violet, violet-blue and blue-green are Tertiary colours. While I waited to let the paint dry, I painted the background. Then we cut out a black circle and sticked on the middle of the len. Then I cut out the eyelashes and waited until the next day. Then I sticked everything on and this is my end result!

Reading: Poetry. I am

Image result for gold medal from the olympic 2016I am

I am Kind
I am cruel
I'm the girl who rode the wind
I am a winner
I am a loser
I'm the boy who scored the goal
I am strong
I am weak
I am the one who got gold
I am the one who came last
I will say 'don't stop now
I will push my way to gold
I will make my country proud
I will make myself proud
All I have to do is persevere and dream big
New Zealand will always be by my side
Am I right?'

By Kimberly

My side of this poem: This poem is my one that I create in year 6. I did it for a competition but never put my poem in. This poem is based around the olympic in 2016 and I find it very inspiring because it doesn't matter if you come last, all you have to do is persevere and one day, you may come first.

Reading: Lost in Translation 1. The Horned Snake's wife

         Lost in Translation:

For one of my reading activities, I have done lost in Translation. The book I have read is The Barefoot book of Princesses. I love this book and I really recommend this book to anyone who wants to read it because the art in this book is really detailed, interesting and the vocabulary is very rich.

The Horned Snake’s wife
                       From Iroquois

Blurb: The girl who marries a man with a both a human and animal shape - is common to all countries in the world.

My thoughts on this story: I loved this book! This story remind me of saying like ‘never judge a book by it’s cover’ and also ‘never go out with strangers’. I found this book very interesting and I wonder why she was so picky.

Reading: Lost in Translation 2. The Mountain Princess

The Mountain Princess
From Persian

Blurb: The Turandot story is told by the Princess in the Red Pavilion. Of Mars. The complex riddles and hidden meanings of the lovers in this story are common to Persian love stories.

My thoughts on this story: I really enjoyed it and I can read it heaps of times without getting board. This book is so detailed and it has got really awesome art. I can really imagine how hard it’s to climb the mountain! I can’t believe it’s happened before.
