Title: Fur from home - animal adventures

Author: Andy Blackford
Recommendation: I would recommend this book only for something quick and it’s really easy to read. This is a good book for a picture book if you don’t want to read a simple book because it has pictures in it but the right amount and I think people will enjoy this book.

Report writing: Soccer ball

Image result for fifa soccer ballSoccer Ball:

Imagine playing soccer without a ball. Imagine life without balls like soccer balls. Without Charles Goodyear, we would have no games of soccer and the world would be different. Alot.

This invention changed everything. Every ball you see today from ruby balls to hockey balls, they were all inspired by one man - Charles Goodyear.

Soccer balls have come a long way. From animal bladders or stomachs that would fall apart if you kick it too much to really good quality balls with fancy designs that would last for decades.

Who invented Soccer balls?
According to soccer ball world, it says that in 1836 Charles Goodyear designed and built the first vulcanised rubber soccer balls.

Amazing Facts about the soccer ball
  • According to historical references, the early soccer balls ranged from human heads, stitched up cloth, animal and human skulls to pig or cow bladders.
  • Until 1908, soccer balls were made from the inflated stomach tissue of executed Irish prisoners. I’m guessing that this is in Ireland.
  • Today's soccer balls are slightly oval-shaped. But the checkerboard pattern creates an illusion of a perfect sphere.

So when you kick a soccer ball again, think about how much the soccer ball has changed. Just how they used to kill a pig and then play soccer with the bladder for only 2 days because it will fall apart. Now to good quality balls. Remember how lucky you are. I bet you don’t want to kick a sharp, empty human skull.

Reading

For one of my reading activities, we had to create an arm that when you were 6 years old and you lost your arm, you have to choose your favourite thing and I chose Minnie Mouse.
